The lake mirrored the vivid colors of the cloudless setting sky. The moon was already growing, although the sun was just setting. Two differences, but together an equal splendid sight. Icy blue eyes looked up at the sky from their peak before looking back down toward the lake. The water was untouched, making it look glass-like. Pristine, unable to be touched unless it be broken. Muzzle laid across the ground and lids began to close over Aiyana's eyes. Creamy fur was ruffled with a warm breeze. Ahh summertime. For once she relaxed, although her peaks twirled, listening and making sure that none would sneak up on her. A yawn escaped her. She was so tired. Tired of traveling, tired of this life. Soon enough she was dozing, rhythmic deep breaths.
'Aww c'mon Aiyana! It's not that scary.' Said a laughing gray wolf as he bounded up the mountain. Jacy kept climbing, looking behind him to see if his one love was still there, behind him. Aiyana watched him with a giggle, pushing up as he climbed onto the cliff and right to the edge. As she reached him, he looked behind at her with a radiant smile. 'See my love, soon this will be ours.' He signaled for her to come closer, to look at the extravagant beauty. She took a few more steps before a horrible noise resounded around them. Instead of love and happiness, fear encased them. No more could she see the carefree boy she fell in love with, but the mate that she was scared for. Pieces of rock started to crumble underneath him. All of a sudden there was no more sun, there was no more light. Tunnel vision occurred, and she watched as he was no longer. There was no more love, there was only pain. A yelp escaped from Jacy before he looked at her. She could not hear his words, but she could read them as she had read his mind many a time. 'Forever Aiyana, I will love you.' And then he was gone. The gray rock camouflaged him as he went tumbling down, down to his demise. The moon had fallen, no longer to rise and brighten her night, to dash away the nightmares. No more would the sun rise and he be there laying next to her, the sun reflecting off his pelt and almost blinding her sometimes. She was speechless. She cried before letting out an isolated howl, telling of her loss of the one thing that made life worth living, that made the world go around, that was her other half...
She startled awake, and she could not breathe. A cry was caught in her throat. These dreams were haunting her every night it seemed. Why had he been taken from her on that morning? Life was not fair. She rubbed her maw against her paws, trying to protect herself, trying to hide her feelings. She was stoic. She was strong. No more was there Jacy. He was gone. And unfortunately, she was still living. Nails scratched the surface. Cruelty. That's what this was. Not being able to be with the one that the heart yearned for, wished for, but could never have again. It was torture. But no more of that, no more. A sigh escaped her. She was not to go back to sleep, but maybe a little rest would do her some good.
