What We Mean
You Live To Serve Me
This is also known as the Lead Stallion or Alpha position. He reigns over everyone in the lands and decided virtually everything. The only thing he cannot place you as is the Betess position, which is reserved for the Alphess. He reserves the right to kick you out of the herd, no matter who you are -- the Alphess, the Betess, Foals, it doesn't matter. He has the right to break up rights, but most likely won't. He can do anything he wants. His word is law; thus you suffer the consequences. Anyone can fight him, even for his position. But always remember: You Live To Serve Him.
Of Second Importance
This is commonly known as the Lead Mare of Alphess position. She is second in command, and is normally the mate of the Alpha. She cannot pick any positions, except for the Betess position. She can convince her mate, however, to get rid of another member. Her child is almost always the heir, or heiress. You'd do well to stay on her good side, because out of all of the herd members, she's one of the closest to the Alpha himself. The original Alphess is picked by the Alpha, but this position can be fought for. If the original Alphess loses, her state of importance in the herd is switched with whomever beat her. That doesn't mean, however, that the Alpha will give her up as his mate.
We're Better Than You
These are the heirs and heiresses of the land. They are normally the children of the Alpha and Alphess, but there have been cases where anothers child has been chosen over them. They are given special treatment most of the time, and are of higher importance than other foals. They are usual heavily guarded and don't have as much freedom as other foals. They don't have any powers and this position cannot be fought for. Don't make them mad though, 'cause they have a habit of running off to D.A.D.D.Y!
I'm His Trust
This is commonly known as the Beta position. This is the Alpha's right hand man, and is usually much trusted by him. Their job is to keep the herd in order if the Lead is injured, or just not around. They have breeding right also, and the Betess is rarely their mates. Their child is usually second to the thrown after the heirs and the Beta and Betess -- meaning that is the Alpha were to die, they would take over, and if they could not, the heir would, and if not them, the Beta's child would -- and if not old enough, the Alphess would run it until they were. They are the the Alpha's advisors, and usually very wise, but powerful too. This position cannot be fought for.
I'm Her Trust
Also known as the Betess position. This is the Alphesses right hand woman, and usually very trusted. They are to help with the Beta's duties and are respected among the herd. Their child is usually the next heir after the Beta's child. They are smart and strong.
The Last Of The Heirs
These are the children of the Beta's and Betess. If the Alpha/Alphess does not have the chance to have a child or the child is killed, one of these foals will take over. These foals aren't particularly respected, but since their parents are the best friends of the Alpha's, I'd treat them a little bit better than your average colt or filly.
Like The Wind
These are the herd Messengers. They are trusted with the herd's secrets and are very quick. Larger horses are not recommended for this place. There can be up to two messengers in this herd. They must be able to run long distances without getting tired, and are tested so.
A Wall Of Strength
These are the body guards and the best warriors around. They must be heavily built and are always up to defend their leaders. Larger horses are needed for this spot and you'll never see an Arabian taking the job. These guards watch over the Leaders and their children. They are always about, whether with their assigned persons or watching the borders.
A Fly On The Wall
Spies. These horses are good actors, and dare to enter other territories and get "claimed". They are used to either get herds secrets or destroy a herd from the inside out. There are only two spies in this herd. The plans are usually between the Spy and the Alpha, not even the Beta knows. Nobody in the herd knows who the spies really are, as they are tattle tales to the leader.
I Dance At Night
Assassins. They are rarely used, but when they are, they are deadly. They must be quick stealthy, and strong all at once. They can be called on by anyone in the herd, but they know the consequences if they get caught in the act. The one you normally sends them on missions is the leads. These assassin's must sometimes be spies as well. There are two assassins, and sometimes they are sent on "group" missions.
My Warriors
These are the other stallions in the herd. They're just another part of the herd, but they rarely stay around long. They must ask before breeding, and if they don't, they could face exile, be beaten, or killed.
Our Hearts
These are all the other mares in the herd. They can go if they find that this herd doesn't satisfy their needs, but this doesn't happen often. They have the right to abandon their foals, but that might go on the bad side of the leaders. The beta and alpha have breeding over all these mares, and exercise it well. The only mares in the herd that get to choose whether to be bred or not, is the Betess and Alphess -- understand that when you join this herd. They tend to have a little more respect than to just force-breed you, but that's not always the case. The only one allowed to breed with the Alphess is the Alpha. If a mare refuses to be bred, there can be consequences.
A Future Unknown
These are all the other foals of the herd. They are not permitted to play with the Heir(ess) or even come close without permission. They are near the bottom of the food chain though, and without their mothers safety would probably be teased by everyone else. Filly's may stay but most colts that were born in the herd bust leave when they come of age. However, colts can be used as weapons against other herds, destroying them from the inside out.
