If you run away, who can catch you?

Ryu stopped infront of a small cave. It smelt like Bear, but the scent was stale. He walked in and shook his pelt, seending water droplets everywhere. It was actually warm and dry inside the cave. The floor was covered in moss for bedding and there was a corner with bones in it from previous prey. He turned and looked at Mali. "C'mon in," he said, sitting down.

Mali peered in the cave, it took her a couple minutes to actually make herself go in. Once she was in she curled up at the edge of the cave, head upon her paws as she peered out. Her butterscotch pools searching protectively. After a minute she looked over towards Ryu and smiled gently."Thank you"

[Night]

Ryu smiled lightly. "Any time," he said, laying down. His onyx eyes seemed to hold her gaze for a moment before he turned away and laid his head down. He was shivering slightly like he was a bit cold. He sighed, unsure of what to do or what to talk about.

Mali noticed him shivering. It was not good for rain to soak into a wolf's coat. She rose from the cave floor and padded over to his side. She then curled up beside him and rested her head upon her paws once more. She sighed, unsure of how to start a conversation. "You know too much about me, and I know nothing about you"

[Night]

Ryu felt Mali curl up next to him. He looked at her a bit shocked and the smiled. "Well, what do you want to know?" he asked, looking at her. They were oddly close and this made it awkward to talk to Mali, but he didn't say it or even show it. As long as she was comefortable he was okay.

Mali could feel he was tense and she turned around to face him. She was not stupid. She could see a lot of things others couldn't. All it took was some concentration and paying attention. She looked at him for a minute and cleared her throat then moved back over to her spot. As she walked away she sighed and spoke out, her voice echoing. "Goodnight" She didn't care to continue the conversation anymore. She did not fall asleep but coninued to stare out of the cave, watching, listening"

[Night]

Ryu felt bad suddenly. He looked at her and got up, walking over. He laid down. "Don't be like that, Mali," he began, touching his nose to hers. "What's wrong? Are you still worried about those wolves?" he asked, his ears laying back in wonder.

She looked up at him and through a quick smile. "I guess so" She shrugged then layed her head back down. Millions of things ran through her head at this moment and she didn't know which to focus on. "I felt that you felt uncomfortable, so I moved"

[Night]

Ryu shook his head. "I'm just not used to being around other wolves, let alone she-wolves," he replied, adding a light chuckle to loosen the tension in the air. "I didn't want you to move," he added, now looking out into the rain filled forest.

Mali sighed once again and looked on silently for a few moments. "I want you to be comfortable, it be awkward laying next to a murderer." She brought up her head and pressed her nose against his once more. She was only kidding. When a snap caught her attention her head snapped forward and she peering out, testing the air. What was it, was something following them?

[Night]

Ryu shook his head, chuckling. He looked out into the rain. "Is it them?" he asked, getting up. His fur was bristling as if he were ready to attack any wolf that entered this cave. His onyx eyes were pinned on the wet forest floor, waiting.

Suddenly Mali lifted her lips baring teeth. Her hair bristled along her back and she braced her self in attack mode. Her once soft, butterscotch pools now were fierce. Did was not the Mali that Ryu would know. She let out a vicious snarl when a lone dark form appeared from the rainy fog.

"Oh, Mali, could that possibly be you?" Suddenly Mali relaxed, hairs fell, lips covered her trap. She then perked and stated one statement. "Dad?"

[Night]

Ryu relaxed as he heard that it was her father. His fur fell back down and he took a seat. "Please, come in," he said, to the figure. It would be rude sitting in a dry area while another wolf is out in the rain right infront of them.

Mali was so confused at this point. She looked to Ryu slightly embarrassed of what she had put him through. She then tried to avoid eye contact. What could he possibly be thinking right now? She sighed then nodded, her father slowly made his way in. She then stood for the usual family greeting as then nudged noses quickly and tipped their diadems. She thought This is no where near the feeling I get from Ryu. I do this differently with him. Thats when she returned her gaze to Ryu and smiled, blushing, hoping that he couldn't read thoughts.

She quickly turned to her father as he spoke with his husky voice. "You're all I have left Mali.." Mali looked at him with a pained, but fearless expression. "Everyone's gone" He approached her with a slight limp, no understanding. He had been forced to step down and be replaced. She sighed and shook her head. "Save you breath and lie down. It's not as if we're going to eat you"She would not forgive him quickly for her banishment. But with due time...

[Night]

Ryu smiled back. He then looked at her father. "Lay down. You need to rest," he said. His eyes were soft. He now had two wolves to protect, but he didn't mind. He dedicated himself to protecting others as long as they needed it.

He looked at Mali. "You should lay down too, both of you must be tired," he replied, his tail lightly wagging.
