[Night]

Night looked at the other wolves. He came out from his hiding spot and snarled. "Hougen, you better not do anything else to him," he growled.

Hougen looked at Night, Kiba's leg still in his jaws. He smiled. "What are you going to do, Night? You're getting old," he said, biting harder onto Kiba's leg.

Kiba growled, his ears laying back on his head. He kicked with his good leg, hitting Hougen squar in the jaw. He felt his leg being dropped and sighed, relieved. He got up on his three good paws, pulling his hurt leg close to his body. He limped towards Cade and turned to face Hougen, snarling. "Thanks for distracting him. My leg would've been torn off," he said to Cade quietly.

Alue put Roshi on the ground. She looked back at them. "We'll wait here for the rest," she said.

Roshi got to his paws and ran to his mother. He curled up next to her.

Ryo set Lydia down and sighed. She was about to say something when she heard rustling she got up and turned towards the trees and snarled. Suddenly blood hit her nostrils. She hesitated and saw Genba limping out of the bushes, one his eyes were missing and alot of his fur was ripped out from battle wounds. He looked up and collapsed to the ground, tired. "Help me," he said weakly.

Cade leapt out of his cover and right onto Hougen, biting at anything hoping to turn the brute's attention onto himself. When determined Cade was just as powerful as this dangerous blood-thirsty wolf, and the safety of the family was his determination. Finally he jumped to the ground in front of Hougen, but spoke behind him to his father sternly. "Get him out of here..NOW!" He turned to his father with that look, the look you see in someone's eyes when they know they might not ever see each other again. "Dad, now, please..."He pleaded, turning back to Hougen and leaping at his face with quick movements.

Romeo then jumped out beside Cade.

Cade growled at Romeo. "You need to leave and go to my sister..She needs you!"

Romeo nodded and ran to the river.

Aryan stood among the others next to the river. She watched as the pack took in the disturbed peace. Suddenly blood smack her nostrils and she turned to the wounded wolf. She ran to his aid, curling up near him. "Shhh..shhh....I know the pain is hard to cope with, but you're going to be ok" She wasn't sure of the truthfulness of her words, and she was sure the brute knew.

Romeo arrived and nuzzled Alue happily.

Aryan turned to Romeo quickly. "Cade? Night?" She asked questioningly.

Riatha finally and eventually, made it to a river. Upon getting there, she sat down and licked her paw; running it over her face as she groomed -- a very cat-like motion if you've ever seen one. Even when the blood coated wolf came amongst them, she took little notice. She was getting quite bored, but she was sure things would pick up again soon.

Lydia shook herself when she was set upon the ground. Her little body shook in fright -- this was not a stable enviroment for such a young beind. She slowly approached Riatha, ears lowered and head down. "Riatha, what's happening?" she asked. Maybe Riatha was the wrong wolf to ask, but Lydia really just wanted to hear a sure, strong voice to her ears.

Sagina paced back and forth, ears back in an irritated way. She was a good bit away from the others, avioding the rushing current of the river. It only aggravated her even more. Snorting, she stopped and perked her ears as an injured Genba came from the woods. Loping over, she licked one of his more prominant wounds before laying beside him; resting her head on his neck in a comforting way. "It's going to be all right, Genba." she whispered.

[Night]

Hougen felt his shoulder tear by Cade's fangs. He growled.

Night nodded to Cade. "Listen, right after we leave, you leave too, okay? I don't want any of my pups murdered by this monster," He said, before turning. He helped Kiba over a bush and was about to follow when something grabbed his neck. He felt himself being dragged back and then slammed onto the ground. He yelped. "Let me go, Hougen," he snarled.

Hougen chuckled through Night's neck. "Why?" he asked. He then bit down harder and harder until a loud crunch was heard.

Night's eyes widend and he looked at his son. Suddenly, his body went limp.

Kiba limped towards the river, hoping that Cade and Night would come back. He had heard the yelp, but couldn't do anything about it. He just continued as fast as he could. A few minutes later he ended up near the river.

Alue's face was burried in Romeo's shoulder. She was crying so hard that she was shaking.

Roshi looked up when a fimiliar scent came to his nostrils. "Kiba," he said, obviously tired and scared.

Genba looked at the two females. "I'm sorry. I didn't want to help him, but I was scared of dying. I was going to help your daughter back tonight, but than this happened," he said to Aryan.

Fierce tear now leaked upon his face, his eye blood thirsty now..before he attacked this brute he needed to tell everyone the news. IT wasn't a normal howl, but held a yelpish, mournful tone. When he had finished his blood shot hues looked upon Hougen, he leapt for his throat, he would not take anymore of death caused by this brute, because tonight, Cade was going to kill him.

Aryan's ears shot up at the song, its sadness drilling into her heart. She began to shake and finally she broke down crying. "NO!!" She stumbled. "NO!" She was now fully crying.

Romeo turned to Alue's mother, it was hard for him to see such pain within those pools. He turned to Alue, knowing that Alue had understood the message, tonight, Night's life was ended.

Riatha glanced at Lydia and shrugged, "Your pack's falling apart." she said directly, noting the guilty look on Lydia's face. "And all because you're brother got a little carried away." Getting up, she disappeared into the trees -- becoming nothing more than a moving shadow. She was leaving, but little to fear -- she had a friend she wanted to talk to, a friend she knew would do much more damage than she ever would (or could) have.

Lydia winced, sighing as she laid down -- facing away from the rest of them. She didn't want to see it, it was getting too much to handle.

Sagina laid quiet, unsure of her part in all of this. Getting up, she trotted to Kiba, licking his cheek. "Kiba, what's going on?" she asked softly. Everything that had happened had such a fog over it, she was so unsure. Kiba had come back to her, everything had been fine...and then Gin, and these wolves...they shouldn't have been there.

[Night]

Hougen laughed, easily dodging Cade. "Don't let your anger take over, young one. That'll lead to you death just as quick as your father died," he said, although he didn't try and attack Cade anymore. "Go back to your family. There shall not be anymore bloodshed tonight. Plus, you got your sister back and your beautiful mother is probably heart broken," he added, turning and disappearing into the shadows.

Alue cried harder as she heard Cade's howl. She pressed closer to Romeo, wanting comfort.

"I don't know. Night was supposed to be helping me, but I don't know what happened to him. I was going to go back and help when he ended up gone, but I couldn't get back to them," Kiba said, pressing close to Sagina.

Cade snarled as he watched Hougen walk off, being left alone with the lifeless body of his father, who, just hours ago, he had told he loved, thinking that it was him that would be losing his life tonight, no this father. The eerie breeze left a chill upon his spine and he shivered slightly, auburn hues stared into the cold, dead eyes of Night. "SON OF A BITCH!" Cade howled into the silent night of nothing. Not another sound was heard throughout the forest and he grabbed the scruff of his father, so he could at least bring the corpse to the river and let it float away in peace.

Aryan heard Cade yell and she flinched, sinking back, almost falling over the banking of the swift river. She still cried, whimpering of her empty heart. Her love was gone, how could she ever love another at her age. She was 5 now.

Romeo let Alue melt into him. "Shh-shh, love....shhh... I know it hurts." He stepped back to look into her eyes. "I thought I had lost you."

Sagina just nodded, staying silent for the time being as she pressed close to Kiba. ”What are we going to do?” she asked, in a tone that clearly said that she didn’t want to make the decision. ”And what about the pups? How will they fair?” Sagina pretty much blocked out the sadness around her and tried to focus on what they were going to do from then on. She wanted to go home, to snuggle up in the dens…but she wasn’t sure if that was an option any more.

[Night]

"We have to leave Hougen's pack. If we go back, he'll kill us," Kiba said. He looked around. "We'll wait for Cade and then we'll figure it out," he said.

"I've always trusted Aryan, I'll be with her if she allows me and my pups in her pack.

"I never would've leave you, or my family," Alue said, still crying. "I want my dad. Why'd he have to die?" she asked.

Genba looked at Aryan. "It's hard, I know it's hard. He'll always be with you, Aryan. I could tell by the way he looks at you and treats your family. He'll be with all of us and he'll give us the strength to throw down Hougen," he said. Tears even appeared in his eyes.

Cade finally came into view of the others as they stood along the bank of the wild river, but he was not alone. He kept a steady pace as he dragged the lifeless body of his father, tears fiercely fell down his face. He looked up and turned around, standing before his mother. He then broke down crying, but growled, pissed off. "I'm going to kill him...even if I have to do it in his sleep, his blood will spill upon his own marked land. The bastard." with that Cade left to stand alone upon the banking farther down.

Aryan nodded with is words.

Romeo nuzzled Alue. "I know..I know it sucks but he died fighting for his family, because he loved you guys more than his own life."

Sagina shook her head, "No," she said softly, "He wouldn't hurt me..." she whispered, barely loud enough for her own ears to hear. But she doubted the truth of her words. She had grown up thinking both him and Genba as father figures, and never once, in all this time, had Hougen harmed her. Her mind wandered back to her time as a pup -- pulling at his ears, jumping on his back. She shifted uncomfortably with the situation -- Cade's words.

[Night]

Alue nuzzled Romeo and then got up. She walked over to Cade and nuzzled his side. "Cade," she said, tears still running down her face. "I'm glad you came for me," she said.

"Well, than go back to him. If you believe that he wont hurt you, than go to him. See what he does," Kiba said, feircly. He growled and laid down. He yelled out in frustration.

Roshi got up and walked over to the wolf called Aryan. He curled up next to her, hoping to comfort her.

Cade looked upon Alue with a gentle look. "Your my sister, my best friend....Why wouldn't I?" He sighed and then looked to the rushing currents below him. His heart sank as he thought about watching his father die. A brute he thought was invincible, it was his father for christ sakes and now he was dead. "I'm just glad you didn't have to see what I saw."

Aryan looked down to the pup and her heart melted for those usual 'puppy eyes'. She nuzzled the pup, momentarily taking her mind off her broken heart. "Well hello.." she began with a soft tone. "what's your name young one?" She smiled softly, but when her eyes traveled to the lifeless body of her mate she began to cry once more..

Romeo stood alone now as he watched his love comfort her brother. He watched the distressed wolves as they now carried the burden of sadness, loss, and confusion.

Sagina snorted, getting up to pace back and forth. "Well there's no reason to get mad at me, Kiba. It's not like this is my fault!" she snapped, flicking back her ears in irritation. "Things were going so well..." she muttered, trailing off as she . paced over her own paw-prints again and again. How could any of this have happened? Life here had been almost perfect for the Wolf Without a Past, how could things have gone downhill so quickly?
